Greenstock Festival

flexing

GreenStock is our Climate Change Festival, our way of drawing attention to the environmental challenges we face and some of the things we can do about it, in a fun day of music, food and activities. It is a partnership event with the GreenGrocers and has previously taken place in Heigham Park, Norwich. In 2007 we were brought in to support the artistic content of the festival, but in 2008 took over the running of the event. Although we have taken a break this year, we intend to be back in 2010.

First and foremost, Greenstock is about creative a positive and celebratory atmosphere around what can be done to combat global warming. It offers:

  • Workshops and activities, linked to environmental themes or healthy living.
  • Talks on a range of subjects, from organic gardening and allotments, to carbon reduction.
  • Information stalls on such things as car sharing, renewable energy, energy saving and recycling.
  • Stalls with organic and locally sourced food.
  • Music and performances.
Greenstock

Each year the festival has drawn more and more people (1,000 in the first year, 1,500 the second) and feedback has been unanimously positive. People want to feel empowered to do something, and we feel celebrating positive action is far more productive than the usual doom and gloom. The message is more likely to be taken in and acted upon.

We want to continue to develop GreenStock, but also to broaden its remit. In 2010 we aim to run a slightly larger event, with an ecoustic stage as well as our main stage ,and more workshops and activities. Most importantly we want to look at running one or more 'arts and environment' projects that feed into the festival and will be seeking funding to do this.

We are always looking for sponsors, performances, workshops, stalls and activities. If you think you could support GreenStock or get involved in some other way, then please get in touch.

GreenStock is a not-for-profit event for the local community. Any surplus will be reinvested into the following year's event. NORCA and The Green Grocers would like to thank all those individuals, bands, charities and firms that have made this event possible in the past. Previous sponsors have included Adnams, Toyota, Anglia Printing Services, EEDA and Booja Booja. Previous funders have included Awards for All and Norwich City Council.
