A successful day celebrating Carnival Heritage and the work of the Carnival Archive Project attended by over 400 people. As well as offering information and interactive activities connected to the Archive, people were able to listen to inspirational speakers, have a go at Samba dancing or costume making, take part in Archive and Oral History workshops, learn how to play Samba, enjoy interpreting the archives in fun and creative ways, and listen to live music. Bands that played included Maracatu Bafo da Onca, The Mighty Phantom and his Tropical Troubadours (Calypso), Bloco Foguete and Drayton Junior School Samba!! Speakers included Dr Vic Morgan (UEA), Charles Beauchamp (Mandinga Arts), Charlotte Dickerson (Carnival Archive team) and Susan Maddock (Norfolk Record Office). Workshops includes Art of the Ordinary (archive interpretation), Mariana Pinho (Gandaia) and Charles Beauchamp (Mandinga Arts).
NORCA also launched its own Carnival Company Project at the event. Your Carnival, Your Heritage!!
